Henry VIII Inspiration
The Henry VIII design inspiration comes from the ornate, elaborate clothing and architecture of the Tudor court. I devised these patterns and put the colours together to create a garment that would suit a larger than life monarch, long dead but very much alive in memory and popular imagination. The Hebridean 2 Ply colours provide a depth and lustre worthy of a royal legend.
I have now used this design in three very different garments. I decorated the original Henry VIII Pullover with vertical panels of bold motifs that create a rich and striking effect. The Henrietta Jacket features an A-line shape and a textured pattern worked in warm 3 Ply Tormentil, which highlights the coloured motifs worked on the collar. The Hat Set now brings the pattern into a set of deep-wristed gloves and a beret, which works perfectly with the curving shapes of the motif.
